The purpose of The JESUS Film Project is to share Jesus with everyone in his or her own language through media. No one should have to learn a new language to understand the gospel. Because of this the “JESUS” film has been translated into more than 1,000 languages making it the most translated film in history.

It is estimated that “JESUS” has a viewing audience of more than 6 billion with 200 million indicated decisions for Christ.

Yet, the challenge to go to the ends of the earth is taking on a new face. Reaching some remote people groups with “JESUS” involves using 16mm film, a generator and a screen. However, with more people gaining access to the Internet and cell phone technology - the world is quickly changing! More and more people are moving into urban areas.

With this opportunity we are developing new media tools and strategies that can easily be accessed through Internet, cell phone, DVD and more. The Short Film Strategy is being used around the world. The Campus Crusade ministry in Romania hosts short-film nights and invites university students to attend. In March 2007 they hosted a film night in the capital city. One ministry team member shared the following about the popularity of the event: "We organized an evening of short films with the theme: Spiritual Experiences in Film. Thirty minutes before the event started, the line at the entrance was more than 50 meters [long]. Two hundred and eighty seats were occupied … and every empty place that existed in the conference hall was filled. We decided to project the films outside the building, too, where at least 100 young people waited enduring the cold weather. Seeing this situation, we decided to repeat the event the following evening and again the hall was full with people."
