Follow-Up Resources
Recognizing the increased need for follow-through evangelism, JESUS Film Project leaders have responded by assisting field staff members to create effective discipleship tools. One example is “Following JESUS”, a dramatized follow-up film series designed to disciple new believers, ground them in their faith, and equip them to be fruitful members of Christ’s body.
Using dramatized storytelling techniques and incorporating images and clips from the “JESUS” film, “Following JESUS” teaches biblical principles and demonstrates how to live as a follower of Christ. Because at least 60 percent of the world’s population remains functionally illiterate, “Following JESUS” can potentially help reach these people with the good news and disciple them.
Both African and South Asian ministry leaders responded with enthusiasm to this new tool, working with “JESUS” Film staff members to develop individually designed and contextualized versions for their areas. Field staff members design 30-minute lessons/episodes which fit into hour-long teaching and discussion sessions. This approach pairs a visual portrayal of the gospel with the opportunity to answer questions, build faith and relationships. Additionally, “JESUS” Film staff members are developing training materials using software to inexpensively translate and produce “Following JESUS” study and leader’s guides.
